Hull KR to take over Savile Street for official kit launch

04/12/2012

The Robins are set to bring a taste of Super League atmosphere to the city centre as they host a Christmas street party to mark the launch of their 2013 playing kit on Thursday 6th December at 6pm.

The club, which relocated its retail store to Savile Street in October, has teamed up with neighbouring retailers and Hull BID to organise a fun festive event, packed with attractions and activities for all the family.

The whole of Savile Street will be filled with a myriad of action throughout the two hour event, including interviews with Rovers’ stars and Head Coach, Craig Sandercock, a fashion show lead by retailers such as Leonard Silver, Aspecs Opticians and Ark, a BMX display provided by Street Freak, dance performances from the Robinettes and award-winning local dance group, Skyline, live music hosted by Bad Dog Music, a £10k Rovers Lottery draw and much more.

The night will culminate with the unveiling of the new home and away kits, which the Robins will wear throughout the 2013 season, as first team squad members take to a specially constructed catwalk which will run down Savile Street.

Throughout the evening there will be a host of special offers and competitions running at the Rovers Retail Store and at neighbouring retailers. There will even be a chance to win the shirts straight off the back of the Hull KR players in attendance on the night!

Mike Smith, Rovers’ Chief Executive, is excited about the kit launch, he said: “We wanted to do things a little differently this year. We have had some great feedback from our fans about the new store and also received a lot of support from neighbouring traders on Savile Street, so we wanted to do something which would attract people to the street and holding a large scale event such as this seemed like the perfect idea.

“There is a lot of interest and excitement around the unveiling of our new kit every year so this is a real celebration of that and will hopefully be something that not only our fans but also, due to the nature of the event, non-fans will really enjoy!”

Kathryn Shillito, Hull BID City Centre Manager, said:

We are delighted to support what will be a great event and our hope is that people will also call into the shops and see what fantastic gifts and purchases are available.  This is a great example of Hull KR and HullBID joining forces with city centre businesses to create a real spectacle.

The Christmas street party will kick off at 6pm on Savile Street, with all participating stores staying open late, including the Rovers Retail Store which will be open until 10pm.
