Hull Foodbank

A time for giving

Christmas is about spending quality time with family and friends. Whether that's in the form of watching DVD box sets or playing good old-fashioned board games, going on a winter adventure or simply sitting down for a shared meal, what matters is that you're doing it with loved ones.

However, though the festive season is best shared with those closest to you, it's also a time for giving, perhaps even to complete strangers.

What is Hull Foodbank?

Hull Foodbank helps people who may otherwise go hungry due to a number of reasons, such as unemployment, homelessness, or simply being unable to afford food on a regular basis. The way it all works is very simple:

  • Individuals, businesses, schools, churches and other organisations donate food.
  • This is then sorted and stored by volunteers.
  • Frontline care professionals identify people in need.
  • Foodbank clients redeem their voucher for three days of emergency food.

How can I help?

You can help in a number of ways, from volunteering to making a financial donation. However, one of the easiest ways to support this essential organisation is by donating some food.

You can do this by taking it to Hull Foodbank at The Hub, Jubilee Central, King Edward Street (Hull, HU1 3SQ). Whether you drop off a chocolate bar or a dozen cans of soup, you can rest assured that it will all go to someone who needs it most.

Spread the word

Hull Foodbank can only continue its valuable work with the help of kindhearted people. Even if you can't donate, please help to raise awareness by telling your friends and connecting with the organisation on Facebook and Twitter. (Please note that Hull Foodbank operates all year round, so don't forget about them in the New Year.) Your support will make a very real difference to a local person's day. Thank you.
