X Factor winner and legendary comedy duo star in Hull Christmas panto

17/11/2015

Hull New Theatre has announced the star-studded cast for this year’s pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, headed up by X Factor winner Joe McElderry, and comedy kings Cannon and Ball.

Joe will lead the cast, giving the Wicked Queen some words of advice in his role as The Spirit of the Mirror, as Cannon and Ball provide a comedy foil as the Wicked Queen’s henchmen.

Since wowing X Factor audiences at the age of just 18, Joe has gone on to record 5 albums and a number 1 single, The Climb. In 2011, Joe won Popstar to Opera Star, before being crowned king of the slopes on Channel 4’s The Jump in 2014. Having completed a UK tour at the start of 2015, Joe has just finished starring in the title role of Tommy at the Winter Gardens Blackpool.

Tommy Cannon and Bobby Ball are one of Britain's most successful double acts. Best known for their long-running ITV comedy programme, The Cannon and Ball Show, they are returning to Hull for the first time since 2005, when they smashed panto box office records. In addition to constant tours, summer seasons, plays and pantomimes, the pair appear frequently on television, in shows including Last of the Summer Wine, Heartbeat and I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here.

Michael Harrison, managing director of Qdos Entertainment’s pantomimes division and executive producer of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, said:

“This year’s fantastic show at Hull New Theatre is pantomime at its very best, and an absolute must-see! Cannon and Ball are guaranteed to have the audience rolling with laughter, and there will be plenty of opportunity for audiences to hear Joe’s outstanding singing talents in a fabulous show packed with musical numbers and a few surprises.”
