Christmas Shoebox Appeal

01/12/2015

This year St Stephen's is acting as a drop-off point for the Real Aid Shoebox Appeal, supporting children and families in need at home and overseas.

Real Aid will be collecting two types of shoebox this year, for two different causes:

Children of Moldova and Romania
The ever popular Christmas Shoebox appeal will send much appreciated presents to children overseas, who otherwise would have nothing to open on Christmas Day. Useful items as well as fun presents would be greatly appreciated. Suggested items include: a colouring book and crayons, skipping rope, soap and facecloth, toothpaste and toothbrush, new underwear and socks, a small toy (no batteries), a puzzle, hats and gloves.

Please pack all items neatly into a shoebox, and mark girl or boy alongside the suggested age. The box can be covered in Christmas paper, but please wrap the lid separately so the items can be checked. If you could also include £2 to help with transport costs, it would be much appreciated. The last of these donations will be accepted on Friday 13 November.

Food boxes for East Yorkshire
For the first time this year, Real Aid are appealing for food boxes to complement the food bank scheme that benefits low income working families in East Yorkshire. The food packages you send will help struggling families to enjoy Christmas without the worry of any additional costs. Suggested items are non-perishable foods such as tinned, dried and packeted foods. Please don't include fresh or refrigerated items. Food packages will be accepted up until Friday 4 December.

Anything you can spare will be greatly appreciated. Simply drop your donation off at the St Stephen's Centre Management Suite. What you donate might just make someone's Christmas.
