Dark and subversive sketch comedy duo at Hull Truck Theatre

05/12/2015

All Our Friends Are Dead is a relentless hour of rebellious sketch comedy full of twisted characters, satirical songs and tragicomedy performed by duo Norris and Parker. Meet a whole host of dubious individuals, from Brian the northern acrophobic with a hatred of Thatcher to a choir made up entirely of widows.

Katie Norris and Sinead Parker met six years ago on a BA Hons Acting course at The Manchester Met School of Theatre. They discovered they shared a birthday and a love for dark and surreal comedy - The League of Gentlemen, Father Ted, Julia Davis (Nighty Night, Hunderby) & Chris Morris (Brass Eye, Jam). Thus began their own adventure as Norris and Parker.

They’ve brought in director Lucia Cox (One Hand Clapping and Cuckoo by House of Orphans Theatre) who is a producer, director and writer. One Hand Clapping has just returned from a sell-out run at the Brits off Broadway Festival in New York.

Hull Truck Theatre’s Artistic Director Mark Babych and Creative Producer Rowan Rutter saw the duo at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe. They enjoyed the show so much that they had to programme it for this season and bring it to Hull audiences.

Praise for All Our Friends are Dead:

“There wasn’t a weak moment to be had, with each sketch packed with innumerable fantastic one-liners and beautifully observed characters delivered by a truly formidable double act.”  ***** The Public Reviews

“Surreal, fun and frankly pretty ridiculous.”  **** WhatsOnStage

“A relentless hour of fast and furious comedy.”  ***** The Good Review

Quotes:

Mark Babych, Hull Truck Theatre’s Artistic Director, says:

“I saw Norris and Parker at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and knew we had to bring them to Hull. They’re hilarious – a bit like French & Saunders mixed with Catherine Tate in a blender!”
