Find the parrot to win Truck theatre tickets
07/12/2016In the run-up to Hull Truck Theatre's Christmas show A Christmas Treasure Island, which launched Friday 2 December, staff from the theatre are hiding a colourful toy parrot in shops and public spaces across the city centre for the general public to find.
The parrot – named after the parrot in the show, Flint – will be popping up in locations such as shop windows and counters from Thursday 8 December. If the parrot is found, he should be returned to the theatre’s box office in exchange for a free family ticket (party of four, must include one over 18 and one under 18) to any performance during the show’s five-week run, subject to availability. People who find the parrot are also encouraged to take a selfie with him on their shoulder and share it on social media.
Based on Robert Louis Stephenson’s classic novel Treasure Island and directed by Hull Truck Theatre’s Artistic Director Mark Babych, this new adaptation is a festive treat for all the family. With original songs and music and full of sparkling characters, Stephenson’s tale is reimagined by award-winning writer Debbie Oates (Coronation Street, The Mill) and delivered with Hull Truck Theatre’s unique brand of Christmas magic.
A Christmas Treasure Island runs from Friday 2 December to Saturday 7 January 2017.
Danielle McLoughlin, Box Office Sales Manager, said: "People need to keep a look out in local shops and public places. He's a red parrot sitting on a blue box with a Hull Truck Theatre logo on – you can hardly miss him! The treasure hunt is a good way to keep children entertained while you're out Christmas shopping. Get them to keep an eye out for Flint in shop windows."
