Open auditions for Peter Pan

Hull New Theatre is searching for four budding stars of the future to appear in this year’s high-flying pantomime adventure, Peter Pan.
Open auditions will be held for the parts of Michael and John Darling in the Christmas show, which will be the first pantomime to be held at the venue since its £16m refurbishment.
The successful four will share the roles of Michael and John and will appear on stage alongside singer and actor Darren Day, Coach Trip’s Brendan Sheerin, Emmerdale star Charlie Hardwick, EastEnders actor Jonny Labey, children’s TV presenter Sid Sloane and Britain’s Got Talent’s Ricky K.
Youngsters must be to least six years old and be no taller than 4ft 6in for Michael and no taller than 4ft 8in for John.
They should have singing and acting ability but should register to take part as individuals rather than through a dance or drama school.
Boys who wish to audition must book their place in advance and anyone who turns up on the day and who has not registered will not be seen.
Participants should prepare a short monologue, poem or rhyme to present for the audition and must also be prepared to read a short excerpt from the script. They will be auditioned by the production’s Executive Producer, Jonathan Kiley.
He said: “We’re thrilled that Hull New Theatre has reopened its doors and we’re delighted to be bringing back the magic of pantomime in such as exciting year for the city.
“In this year’s pantomime, the Darling family will come from Hull, not London, so who better than four local boys to share the roles of Michael and John and star in their local venue this festive season.”
The successful young actors will be chosen by Qdos Entertainment, the world’s biggest pantomime producer and the company staging Peter Pan this Christmas at Hull New Theatre.
It is set to be the biggest pantomime ever to play Hull New Theatre, with spectacular flying effects, an unmissable underwater 3D sequence and all of the ingredients of a traditional family pantomime.
The twist to the traditional story with the Darling family hailing from Hull instead of London before they travel across the skies to Neverland is in honour of Hull UK City of Culture 2017.
Two pairs of boys, plus a reserve pair, will be chosen to take part. Each pair will need to commit to performing across the entire pantomime run from 7-31 December, plus rehearsals, with each pair performing in half of the shows each.
The open auditions for Michael and John Darling will take place at Hull New Theatre’s sister venue, Hull City Hall, on Saturday, 28 October from 9am to 12pm in the Victoria Bar.
